Introducing...
We are an independent collective of artists, crafters, makers, artisans, performers and creators of unique and one of a kind handmade finery based in Bristol. Our aim is to support one another's creativity and creative lifestyle whilst bring the community of Bristol something different, original and fantastically entertaining... something so much more than just another market. Forget about shopping on the high street, we guarantee not only an unforgettable day of fun-filled fabulousness but also a carefully curated, wide and original array of beautiful, bespoke items that cannot be found anywhere else. We pride ourselves on our high levels of quality, craftmanship (craftwomanship also!), style and the diversity of goods which can be found amongst our stalls. We generally run the market every 3 months. Co-founders of the project, Paul and Zara EllisReid of Innerspiral Studio, Bristol commented on their idea. Zara says “We realised there was a huge gap in the available markets that needed to be filled. Many of us held stalls at the wonderful Christmas Steps Artisan Market on the first Saturday of every month but that has closed due to the opening of other markets in town. Other markets in Bristol are either dominated by food and by stalls selling on factory produce or are vastly overpriced for stall holders meaning extra cost is passed on to the consumer. There is a need for more regular, specialised artisan markets in Bristol, affordable for stallholders, and more opportunities for Bristol to see what is on offer in the community.” Paul Reid adds “Most people don’t even really know these local producers exist. Spending your money on locally produced artisan wares means that money goes into the local economy as opposed to the pockets of big corporations. We think that with the recession there is more reason than ever to keep it local.”
